My Life Journey

I am Michael Brian Ivy (formerly Michael Brian Misenheimer), Founder and Visionary behind Recovery On Demand.  I graduated with honors in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus in mind-body connection.  I later earned a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding.  I then became a Certified Life Coach and obtained my Doctorate in Life Coaching (Learn More About Life Coaching here).  At my graduation, a friend gave me a copy of the book, Integrative Body-Mind-Spirit Social Work.

While grateful, I was confused because I thought, like most people, that social workers took babies (Learn More About Social Work here).  However, I devoured the book in a matter of hours and was hooked.  It was my first realization that I has always been an integrative social worker and wanted to explore it further.  A firm believer in setting goals, I went back to school and earned a 2nd Master’s degree in Social Work.  Not bad considering I was a high school dropout!!

Over the years, I have earned national and international credentials as a Master Addiction Counselor, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Georgia.  I have also obtained over 20 coaching certifications throughout the years.  I am a firm believer in doing my own work and continuous learning which not only enhances my personal life but makes me a better helper so I can fulfill my mission in life.

Values That Guide My Work

All human beings deserve access to the resources they need to deal with life’s problems and to develop their full potential.

All human beings deserve to be treated with respect and dignity as they move through the journey of where they are vs. where they want to be.

“I believe in valuing people, especially clients, as we all want to know we matter. It is my job to honor the qualities that make you who you are. It is my job to show you respect and love. It is also my job to show up authentically as we work together for as I show up authentically, it gives you permission to do the same.” – Dr. Michael Brian Ivy

Philosophies That Guide My Work

Members of my tribe are capable of making their own decisions and choices.

Members deserve to be inspired, uplifted and motivated so they feel empowered to create the life they want.

All work worth me, whether in person or on demand courses, emphasizes health, strengths and enhanced well-being.

Change and growth are goal directed. You are capable of learning new skills, knowledge and approaches to creating the life you desire.

“Many of us were never taught the fundamentals of creating a life we love. Instead we go through our day-to-day lives taking what life is handing us instead of proactively creating the life we desire. We have the right to co-create our journey. We have the right to go after our dreams. We have the right to live the lives that feed our mind, body, soul and Spirit.” – Dr. Michael Brian Ivy

A Few of My Roles In Your Journey

Visionary

My job is to help you clarify a vision for your life and then hold the vision and you accountable as you work toward reaching your goals.

Teacher

I am a teacher as I provide you with the tools and resources to increase your quality of life and enhance your well-being through on demand courses and other opportunities.

Cheerleader

Many people do not have a support system that will allow them to make changes they need to reach their goals.  It is my job to cheer you on and help remove barriers as you work through your journey.

Mediator

Many times there is a conflict about who you are, what you want and where you to want to go.  My role is to help you release the ambivalence so you can step up in and into the person you were born to be.

“Change and transition are hard especially when we do not have the right support to guide us on our journey. My role in working with clients is to help them solidify their vision and work toward goals which will help propel them forward in fulfilling and uplifting ways.” – Dr. Michael Brian Ivy

A Few of My Creative Endeavors

“One of my creative outlets is designing and implementing courses, e-book, meditations, workshops which uplift and inspire. There is enough negativity out in the world which can hold us back and prevent us from living our best life. When creating, I ensure that my outlet uplifts and heals. It is my contribution to the healing and betterment of the world.” – Dr. Michael Brian Ivy
